The Healthe Mind Clinic opened in September 2015 to provide the Westlakes and greater Hunter community with additional psychiatry services.

The Healthe Mind Clinic is currently staffed by Dr Stuart Saker, Dr Arvind Kendurkar and Dr Vasantha Bhanu Pothala.
Patients wishing to see our Psychiatrists will require a referral from their General Practitioner.

Introducing Dr Stuart Saker (MBBS; BA; MHA; MPH; MRCPsych) Consulting Psychiatrist

Toronto Private Hospital would like to announce the availability of Dr Stuart Saker, Phsychiatrist, who joins the team at Toronto Private Hospital Healthe Mind Clinic from September.

Dr Stuart Saker is a General Adult Psychiatrist who has also worked with young people (Over 13) as the head clinician in an Early Psychosis Service. He is interested in Veterans' Mental Health and is an Army Reserve Medical Officer who has previously deployed in wartime and humanitarian deployments.

Dr Saker is WorkCover and Motor Accident Authority accredited and does medico-legal report writing.

Following completion of his undergraduate medical training at the University of Sydney, Dr Saker then completed his specialist training in the United Kingdom (MRCPsych). He has experience in both the public and private sectors and enjoys working with inpatients, outpatients and their families.

Dr Saker is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in London, the Australian Medical Association, the Early Psychosis Association and the Australian Military Medical Association.

Dr Saker is available to see patients in a private capacity and also as an inpatient in the Woodlands Mental Health Unit.


Introducing Dr Arvind Kendurkar (MBBS, MD (Psychiatry), FRANZCP, Cert. Addiction Psych., FAChAM), Consulting Psychiatrist

Dr Arvind Kendurkar completed his MBBS and postgraduate training in Psychiatry (MD in Psychiatry) from King George's Medical University, India before relocating to Australia where he completed the Fellowship program from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.

Dr Arvind Kendurkar works as a consultant at the Mental Health and Substance Use Service (MHSUS) at the Mater Mental Health Centre and has also been appointed as Staff Specialist with Hunter New England Health and Conjoint Faculty with University of Newcastle.
He utilises the considerable skill and experience he has gained from this work to lead the only specialist dual diagnosis service at a private hospital in the Newcastle area, working with the specially trained nursing and therapy staff at Toronto Private Hospital.

Throughout his 10 years experience in general adult psychiatry, Dr Kendurkar has had multiple research publications published including health impacts of Synthetic Drug use.

Introducing Dr Vasantha Bhanu Pothala (MBBS, DCP (Ireland), FRANZCP), Consulting Psychiatrist

Dr Vasantha Bhanu Pothala is a general adult psychiatrist and a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He has joined the Healthe Mind Clinic at the Toronto Private Hospital and is available for consultation on a full time basis.

Dr Pothala has expertise in management of a spectrum of mental health issues, including Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Psychosis, PTSD, Personality Disorders and Addiction Psychiatry.

Dr Pothala has extensive experience working in psychiatry in various countries around the world. Dr Pothala has trained and worked in UK, Ireland and New Zealand in a wide range of specialties in Psychiatry.

He is familiar with Central Coast and Hunter New England regions as he worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Mater Hospital in Newcastle and also at Maitland, Taree and Wyong hospitals. He has also worked as a consultant psychiatrist in Queensland and Tasmania.

Dr Pothala has sound clinical knowledge with excellent empathic skills and offers comprehensive patient centred care with a bio-psycho- social approach.
